Get ready... for a jam packed newsletter ... "jam packed" mmm, have you thought about what that really means? I seem to have spent the last month or so swinging between being ecstatic at how busy we are and how we are growing our team and business (from a business sustainability point of view - not peer distress view obviously) to watching the bank balance day to day, wondering where next month's rent is going to come from. It's a new world; who knew you had to make sure super is paid at a certain date each month, that my sophisticated excel skills would not handle the finances alone nor that the "environmentally friendly" heater I researched, and then invested in, would triple my normal electricity bill... More so, however, a steep learning has occurred around being able to sustainably subsidise fee costs for our peers, making our move to not for profit status even more urgent. (If you know of anyone who wants to help us attain this status, please send them our way). You can also see how you can support us, toward link at bottom of the newsletter.
Any who - We have so much other positive news to catch you up on, so hold on tight..:
- Share our space
- Youth Peer Program News
- Family Support and Advocacy - A glimpse within the world of NDIS

Youth Peer Support Program
Need A Youth Peer? All three of our Youth Peers now have young people to support. "What's that did I hear them all yell? You still want more?" Ok. All youth peers have just told me they have capacity for at least one more young person. Learn more about the program here or reach out via details on website to chat with us.

A Glimpse at what we do with families- NDIS I am no longer easily surprised at what life can deal, but NDIA's actions are a certain exception. National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) was founded to provide financial support to community members who have a permanent and significant disability (including mental illness -so called psychosocial disability in NDIS talk). What is permanent and what is significant has become more and more open to refutation by the NDIA over time. So much so, that families are having to fight to get or keep funding they were previously awarded. Advocating for Peers in this field was not an intended purpose of APTF, but I can tell you that it has now evolved into one. While NIDA force families to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal for long and drawn out cases to just get back the supports they previously had and and their processes are causing participants to become at risk of homelessness, we will walk beside these families. As if those with "permanent and significant" mental health challenges do not face enough in getting support. Reach out if you need advice on NDIS Advocacy.

Sporting Peer Program
Wow, I cannot begin to express how happy I feel when I think about the Junior Coaches in our Sporting Peer Program. Not only are they winning in learning and applying coaching skills, most of them are also gaining and/or strengthening essential life skills. I am proud to show a couple of photos below, to be keep current with the program, follow our FB page.

Things we loved this month |
Art Therapy Group
We held our first teen Art Therapy Workshop in June, with our very own Art Therapist, Joanna. We are really proud of all those amazing humans who attended. Keep being you. We will also be hosting another "come and try" workshop, so if you would like your child/teen to try this as a wellbeing tool, express your interest here.

Team Meeting
At the risk of being selfie ridiculed again by our youngest son, I share one from our Team Meeting. So proud to share this journey with each of them. I can't wait to see where the future takes us. (Foreground - me (haha), back left, Freya and then Effie. Back right - Nick and then Kyle). We rock!!!

Creating Conversations - Event for parents AND teens
I am most proud to be a co-founder and current Secretary of SESPN, where we are still prioritising increasing the capacity of community to help each other in preventing suicide. At this next session, Creating Conversations, young people and parents will get the chance to learn and share feedback as a combined larger group and within their smaller teen and parent groupings; enabling a range of experiences and strategies to be shared. Register by clicking on graphic.
